What is IP Address

An IP address is a unique identifier used by electronic devices to communicate on a computer network. It is similar to a street address or phone number, uniquely identifying a specific computer or network device. IP addresses can appear to be shared by multiple client devices in shared hosting or proxy server environments. They are managed by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) and allocated to Internet service providers and enterprises by Regional Internet Registries.
